Seeking tips for Anderson Inlet
David Czerniakowski writes:
I want to know what type of fish I can catch in Anderson Inlet and when is the best time in summer to go fishing there.

Alan McFayden replies:
Anderson's Inlet is fishing the best it has for years due to the recent prohibition on commercial fishing apart from eels. There are plenty of salmon up to 6lb and they are taking just about any type of lure plus whitebait and pippies. These fish are all through the inlet at the moment and you will probably be annoyed by thousands of small whiting but this is a good sign for the future. There is good whiting fishing around Pensioners Point but they are a little on the small size. Down towards the entrance around Ayre Creek at the last of the run out tide there are good pinkie snapper to 2kg and whiting in the vicinity of 45cm being taken on whitebait and pippies. The first of the run in tide is alright as well and the fish are also being caught from the beach. Regards, Alan. (See Alan's weekly report here.)
